First, I really love your column. I like learning about all plants and appreciate your advice. I have a potted hibiscus that's several years old. It will bloom a couple of flowers at a time throughout the warmer months. Its leaves are smaller and the soil is compacted. When prepping to transplant it to a larger pot, how do I break through this seemingly impenetrable tangle of fine roots without hurting this plant?
